British actress Anna Dawson, best known for playing Violet Bucket in the BBC sitcom Keeping Up Appearances, has died at the age of 88.
She passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, in New Zealand, six months after the death of her husband John Boulter.

Her local church, Christ Church Anglican at Kororāreka Russell, announced the news in a social media statement.
"It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a much treasured member of our faith community, former actress Anna Boulter (nee Dawson)," the church said.
Dawson and her husband had lived in Okiato and Tapeka. Funeral details will be announced later.
Tributes from colleagues followed. Carol Challis, widow of actor John Challis, wrote on X: "Sad news.

Dawson began her acting career in 1964 on Dixon of Dock Green and later appeared on The Benny Hill Show and The Morecambe and Wise Show.
Her death comes months after the passing of her co-star Dame Patricia Routledge, who played Hyacinth Bucket. Routledge died last autumn at age 96.

"Even at 96 years old, Dame Patricia's passion for her work and for connecting with live audiences never waned," her agent said at the time.
