Tesla Inc. launched its new three-row Model Y L electric SUV variant in the United States and Puerto Rico on Thursday, following the announcement of record-breaking second-quarter delivery figures.
The launch version of the new six-seat electric crossover carries a starting price of $61,990.

That price is significantly above the base Model Y price of approximately $40,000.
Vehicle deliveries for the new variant are expected to commence between September and October.
Tesla promoted the vehicle's interior layout through an official social media announcement showcasing the design features.
“A 3-row, 6-seat configuration that brings exceptional interior space with ample headroom & legroom for all passengers,” stated Tesla Inc.
The long-wheelbase variant originally debuted in China in late 2025 to satisfy consumer demands for larger family automobiles.

The configuration provides an extended wheelbase and enhanced third-row space compared to the optional seating available in standard models.
The domestic rollout marks a shift from previous manufacturing strategies outlined by corporate leadership last year.
“This variant of the Model Y doesn’t start production in the US until the end of next year.
Might not ever, given the advent of self-driving in America,” said Elon Musk, Tesla CEO.
Although full vehicle autonomy has not yet been achieved via Full Self-Driving software, the automotive manufacturer confirmed it delivered 480,126 vehicles during the second quarter.

This milestone marks a 25% year-over-year growth for the period.
