Chesterfield has strengthened its defensive line with two key moves announced on July 2, 2026.
The club signed former Leyton Orient defender Jack Simpson to a two-year contract.

Simpson, 29, made 41 appearances across all competitions for the O's last season.
Additionally, the Spireites secured a one-year extension for veteran center-back Kyle McFadzean.
McFadzean, 39, committed to another year after his previous contract expired on Tuesday.

Since joining Chesterfield in January 2025, McFadzean has been a regular, accumulating 45 appearances.
"Over the last 18 months I've really settled into the club and I love working under the gaffer," McFadzean said.
The defender also expressed ambitions for the team's future.

"Having reached the play-offs in successive seasons, we know the potential is there to go one step further and get this club back into League One," he added.
