Initial units are being sold under a "Launch Series" designation.

Strategic Move Amidst Market Changes
According to Reuters, Tesla has prioritized introducing distinct variants of the Model Y and Model 3 over developing entirely new models to sustain market momentum.
The extended Model Y L originally debuted in China last year, where it successfully boosted sales despite intense competition from domestic manufacturers like BYD before expanding to wider Asia-Pacific markets.
The U. S.
launch comes just months after Tesla phased out the Model X, which previously served as the only pure SUV in its product lineup.
Industry analysts note that the new variant fills a gap in Tesla's SUV offerings.
