The Down The Rabbit Hole music festival has reduced its capacity to 42,000 attendees at the Groene Heuvels recreation area in Beuningen, following a slower pace of ticket sales compared to previous sell-out years, according to festival organizers and gld.

The event previously drew over 50,000 visitors, reflecting structural adjustments in crowd sizing, ticket pricing, and programming choices.
Longtime attendees have observed the multi-day gathering becoming increasingly busy and expensive over time, alongside a notable rise in late-night dance acts.
Attendee Perspectives on Changes
Festival attendee Tom Verstappen noted that early editions were significantly smaller and more affordable, starting with just 10,000 attendees during the inaugural 2014 event before growing to 15,000 the following year.
"The festival was much smaller and cheaper back then. 99 euros for three days of programming and camping from Thursday," said Verstappen, a cultural sector programmer.
The event has increasingly integrated commercial bookings into its traditional lineup. Despite these modifications, the physical layout retains its characteristic hidden stages, art installations, and alternative performance spaces.
"It's busier and more expensive. I understand the latter: everything is getting more expensive, the organizer can't do much about that.
But the increased crowds are a choice. I think that's a shame," said Verstappen.
Attendees also emphasize that the diverse activities surrounding the core music sets remain central to the event's identity.
These secondary experiences frequently eclipse the primary stage performances for regular visitors.
