Robert Halewijn, the partner of Privé editor-in-chief Evert Santegoeds, is recovering after being struck by a speeding vehicle in a hit-and-run accident in France.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 27, 2026, late in the evening following a dinner.

An unlit car traveling at high speed hit Halewijn, abruptly ending the couple's vacation.
Halewijn sustained a complicated leg fracture from the impact. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
According to Dutch media outlets De Telegraaf and RTL Nieuws, Halewijn is in stable condition given the severity of the collision.
Reports highlighted that he narrowly escaped fatal injuries.

"He crept through the eye of the needle," said Evert Santegoeds, Editor-in-Chief of Privé.
Santegoeds shared the update on social media regarding his partner's emergency hospitalization and subsequent medical procedures. The vehicle involved fled the scene immediately after striking Halewijn.
"Last week Saturday, June 27 around 10:00 p. m.
, our carefree vacation came to an abrupt end after a dinner when Rob was struck by a speeding car driving without lights," Santegoeds said.

Local authorities are investigating the unidentified vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. Halewijn remains under medical supervision following his surgery.
