The Ontario Provincial Police have laid charges against both drivers involved in a collision between a school bus and an SUV on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte.
The incident occurred on July 5, 2026, at approximately 1:40 p. m.

in the northbound lanes near Line 3 South, just north of Barrie.
The school bus was carrying children and adults to a summer camp when it collided with the passenger vehicle.
Minor injuries were reported among those involved.
Road Closure and Investigation
Emergency crews from the OPP and the Ministry of Transportation responded to the scene.
Highway 11 was closed in both directions between Lines 2 and 3 for several hours.

The closure remained in effect while maintenance crews cleared debris and repaired damaged sections of the guardrail. Authorities advised motorists to use alternate routes due to expected delays.
The highway partially reopened by 5:00 p. m.
as repairs continued.
Following the roadside investigation, Orillia OPP officers charged both vehicle operators.

The OPP reminded drivers to maintain ample space for emergency braking and to stay alert for wildlife in rural areas.
