Toyota has added a GR Sport trim to the facelifted Aqua lineup in Japan, giving the subcompact hatchback a more aggressive look and handling upgrades.

The Aqua, which shares its face with the latest Prius, is a Japan-only model closely related to the Yaris but slightly larger.

The first generation was sold in the US as the Prius C, but the second-gen never made it overseas.

Priced at ¥3,238,400 (around $20,000), the GR Sport sits at the top of the range.

It features a new bodykit with redesigned front bumper intakes, aerodynamic extensions, black side skirts, and 17-inch alloy wheels with red GR-branded brake calipers.

The rear bumper is similar to the pre-facelift GR Sport, with decorative honeycomb inlets, but the facelift adds a black garnish between the taillights.

The exhaust pipe remains hidden.

Color options are limited to white, gray, black, and red. Optional GR Parts include fender fins, window visors, branded tape, carbon license plate holders, and door stabilizers.

Inside, the GR Sport gets sport seats with heavier bolsters in synthetic leather and Airnubuck, gunmetal accents, GR logos on the steering wheel and smart key, and aluminum pedals.

GR-branded floor and luggage mats are available through the GR Parts catalog.

Handling improvements include extra underfloor bracing, revised suspension, and retuned steering. However, the powertrain remains unchanged: a 1.5-liter self-charging hybrid producing 114 hp.

The GR Sport is front-wheel drive only, unlike other Aqua variants that offer E-Four AWD.

Alongside the GR Sport, Toyota updated the regular Aqua for 2026.

All E-Four models now come standard with a heated steering wheel, upgraded fabric seats, and a rear center armrest with cupholders.
