Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani reached a historic milestone Tuesday night, hitting his 300th career home run during a game against the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium.

The leadoff blast made Ohtani the first Japanese-born player in Major League Baseball history to achieve the 300-home-run mark, according to the Associated Press.

Ohtani launched a 409-foot line drive to center field on a 2-0 pitch from Colorado starter Michael Lorenzen for his 20th home run of the season.

The milestone came in his 1,102nd career game, spanning his time with the Los Angeles Angels and the Dodgers.

That makes him the fifth-fastest player in MLB history to reach 300 home runs.

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge remains the fastest, achieving the feat in 955 games.

The historic shot was Ohtani's 31st career leadoff home run and his seventh of the current season.

It followed an 11-inning victory on Monday where he went 3-for-4 with another home run.

Manager and Teammates React

"It was quite the homer," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

"It was 119 (mph exit velocity) off the bat, low-launching, it was squared up, got out in a hurry.

I just marvel at him every day. Three hundred is a big number."

Teammate Freddie Freeman bowed to Ohtani as the slugger returned to the dugout after the achievement.

Roberts noted that Ohtani, who celebrated his 32nd birthday last Sunday, has plenty of milestones ahead.

"He just had a birthday, still young, still strong, so I definitely think 500 is in his future," said Roberts.
