NBC co-anchor Savannah Guthrie changed her outfit midway through the live broadcast of the "Today" show on Tuesday to coordinate with her fellow hosts who unexpectedly wore yellow.

The impromptu wardrobe adjustment occurred during the PopStart segment when Guthrie noticed that colleagues Jenna Bush Hager, Dylan Dreyer, and Sheinelle Jones were all dressed in yellow.

Co-anchor Craig Melvin also wore a yellow-and-blue-striped tie.

Guthrie immediately announced her intention to change before the commercial break. "You guys, did you really have a memo?

I'm changing!" she said.

Upon returning to the set in a vibrant yellow gingham dress, Guthrie explained her motivation. "I did, girls!

I wanted to be with my ladies," she said.

Following positive reception, Guthrie confirmed a new weekly wardrobe tradition. "We're starting it today!"

she said.

Guthrie also commended Carson Daly when he changed his shirt and tie during a subsequent break. "I'm sorry, did you change into a yellow tie?

Now that is impressive," she said.

Earlier in the program, Guthrie stated that yellow is her favorite color, which carries deep emotional significance during the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who went missing from Tucson, Arizona, on February 1.

Marking a somber milestone, Guthrie released an emotional statement. "It is five months of agony and unending trauma for our family.
