Michigan led for much of the voting period, but Florida's Highway Patrol communications team mounted a final push that propelled its black-and-tan Ford Mustang to the top spot.
Final Vote Tally
Florida finished with 52,249 votes, well ahead of Michigan's 37,654.
Georgia took third place with 34,933 votes, followed by Ohio and Kentucky to round out the top five.
The AAST joked about the dramatic finish, saying "it must be hunting season in Florida because they managed to shoot down the Blue Goose," a reference to Michigan State Police's iconic blue cruisers.
