Marenco highlighted the shutdown of more than 5,600 civil organizations, the banning of political parties, and the closure of independent media outlets under the current administration.
"All of this should be part of the democratic process, which no longer exists in Nicaragua because there is no rule of law.
These words do not just finish burying any possibility of elections in 2027, they are also a reaffirmation of impunity," he added.
The declaration follows constitutional amendments that took effect in early 2025, extending presidential terms to six years and creating the official co-president role for Vice President Rosario Murillo.
