Mokio noted that while Steur's departure reduced competition in the squad's midfield, he regretted losing a close teammate.
"That's true, but I still would have liked to keep him here. He was definitely one of the guys I spent the most time with.

With his long-term future in Amsterdam secured, Mokio stated that Ajax must now focus on returning to Europe's top competition by winning the domestic league title.
