Mercedes-AMG has unveiled a new Formula 1 Safety Car based on the GT 63 Pro 4Matic+, marking 30 years of supplying safety cars to the championship.
The car will make its debut at the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix.

Integrated Lighting System
Instead of a roof-mounted lightbar, the safety car integrates LED signal lights directly into the active rear wing and flap assembly, along with cameras.
Additional dimmable LED strobes are placed on the front bumper, headlights, and taillights.
Orange lights indicate a no-passing zone, while green lights allow overtaking once the track is clear.
Aerodynamic and Visual Updates
Compared to the roadgoing GT 63 Pro, the safety car features a more pronounced front splitter, aero canards, an active rear wing, and revised underbody panels for improved airflow.
The anniversary livery includes deep black paint, red foil graphics, CrowdStrike sponsor branding, and anniversary emblems on the hood, roof, and rear wing.

First AWD Safety Car
Under the hood, the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 produces 604 hp and 850 Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed transmission and 4Matic+ all-wheel drive.
This makes the AMG GT the first AWD safety car in FIA history.
The car also features Active Ride Control chassis, ceramic composite brakes with six-piston front calipers, and forged alloy wheels with Pirelli P Zero R tires.
Inside, safety car driver Bernd Maylander uses a Recaro racing seat with six-point harness and roll cage.

The cockpit includes a large passenger display, specialized radio, and GPS equipment. The fuel tank is filled with Petronas Primax Pro-Race M2 100-octane fuel containing 40% sustainable components.
