York City have appointed Scott Lindsey as their new head coach, the club announced on July 27, 2026.
The decision comes just one day after the dismissal of Stuart Maynard.

Lindsey, 54, takes charge ahead of the new League Two season. He has been out of work since leaving Crawley Town in March.
Maynard was relieved of his duties despite leading the Minstermen to promotion as National League champions last season.
The club achieved a record-breaking 108-point campaign under his guidance.
The board cited a difference in direction and vision for the football club as the reason for the sudden leadership change.

Lindsey's Previous Experience
Lindsey previously served as an assistant manager at Forest Green Rovers. He secured promotion to League One during his first stint with Crawley Town in 2024.
His second spell at Crawley ended in March following a 10-game winless streak in League Two.
At the time, the team sat just one point above the relegation zone.

Lindsey will make his managerial debut for York City against his former team, Crawley Town. The EFL Cup preliminary tie is scheduled for Monday, August 3.
