Law enforcement officers rescued 78 animals from a property in the Town of Carlisle, New York, following a multi-day animal cruelty investigation, the Schoharie County Sheriff's Office reported.
Deputies first arrived at the residence around 8 p. m.

Three critically ill puppies were immediately taken to Upstate Veterinary Specialties in Latham for emergency treatment.
The initial response involved the Town of Carlisle Dog Control and the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley.
Investigators returned Saturday morning with representatives from the Susquehanna SPCA and local animal control. The owner voluntarily surrendered additional puppies in critical condition for emergency veterinary care.

After finding more neglected animals, deputies obtained a search warrant. Its execution led to the seizure of dozens more animals requiring medical attention.
Animals Seized and Transferred for Care
In total, authorities removed 78 animals from the scene.
The breakdown included 17 surrendered puppies, 12 seized dogs, nine cats, 31 birds, five chickens, and four horses.
The animals were transferred to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley and the Susquehanna SPCA for medical evaluations and ongoing care.

The Schoharie County Sheriff's Office stated the investigation remains active and ongoing. No criminal charges have been announced at this time.
