Gwent Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a collision in Newport that left three teenagers hospitalized.
The crash occurred on Llanthewy Road around 4:40 a. m.

on Sunday, July 26, 2026, involving a car and a motorcycle.
Emergency services, including the South Wales Ambulance Service, attended the scene. The road was closed for initial inquiries.
Police confirmed the car left the scene shortly after the collision.
The three teenagers, believed to have been on the motorcycle, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to contact them, quoting log 26240718.
Operation Krypton Underway
The crash comes as Gwent Police run an eight-week city center crackdown called Operation Krypton, which has led to over 50 arrests and received praise from local officials.

Newport East MP Jessica Morden and local councillors have expressed support for the initiative, which aims to maintain a consistent police presence.
Cllr Dimitri Batrouni, leader of the local authority, noted that businesses and residents want sustained policing beyond the temporary surge.
Gwent Police Superintendent Esyr Jones said the operation provides a significant suppressive effect and is just the start for broader safety efforts.

Cllr David Fouweather welcomed the increased police visibility for traders and shoppers, warning against allowing the initiative to fizzle out.
