Prospect Street in Appleton, Wisconsin, remained closed Tuesday morning after an EF-2 tornado swept through the Fox Valley on Monday, downing power lines and causing widespread damage.
We Energies reported that approximately 11,000 homes and businesses in Appleton were still without power at daybreak.

Yellow police tape marked the area with a "do not cross" warning, as multiple downed power lines were hanging directly above the street.
Crews arriving before dawn found the neighborhood without electricity. A toppled utility pole and wires downed throughout the street added to the hazards.
Fallen trees also lined Prospect, blocking access and contributing to the ongoing closures.
A transit bus remained pinned under a fallen tree from the tornado, with its flashers still blinking Tuesday morning.

Reporter Kristyn Allen described it as one of the most striking images of destruction left by the storm.
Residents Survey Damage as Repairs Continue
Residents came out Tuesday morning to view the damage. Drivers trying to turn onto Prospect from side streets encountered the closure and had to turn around.
We Energies said crews were repairing snapped poles, downed wires, and fallen trees.
City and county emergency actions continued to affect travel in the Fox Valley after the tornado response, including road closures and emergency sheltering.

One day after the storms, officials reported ongoing power restoration work and hazards from debris.
