The San Diego Padres have signed 20 of their 2026 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft picks and nine undrafted free agents, meeting the July 27 deadline.
First-round selection Coleman Borthwick, a right-handed pitcher taken 21st overall from South Walton High School, agreed to an under-slot deal worth $3.8 million after passing physicals at the team's facility in Peoria, Arizona.

"It's awesome to finally get started, to get on to my dream, playing the game I love," Borthwick said.
The right-hander posted an 11-0 record with a 0.21 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 65 2/3 high school innings.
He will join extended spring training before receiving his first minor league assignment with the Low-A Lake Elsinore Storm.
Other Key Signings
Second-round pick Elliot Lascelles, a shortstop from Canada, signed for a $2.8 million bonus, a record for a Canadian high school hitter.

Other confirmed bonuses include fourth-round outfielder Alex Conover at $500,000, seventh-round second baseman Joe Tiroly at $225,000, and 18th-round catcher Mark Quatrani at $250,000.
The only unsigned pick was 17th-round right-handed pitcher Denton Lord, who chose to honor his college commitment to Mississippi State University.
In total, the Padres added 15 position players and 14 pitchers, with 25 coming from college and four from high school.

The nine undrafted free agents include outfielders Andrew Detlefsen, Ryan Gerety, McCabe Moyer, and Josh Skrowronski; right-handed pitchers Aidan Cochrane, Jack Pineau, Tyler Pitzer, and Logan Satter; and left-handed pitcher Andrew Wright.
