Leapmotor has introduced the A05, an all-electric subcompact hatchback in China, targeting the BYD Dolphin. The Stellantis-backed brand also plans to sell it internationally as the B03.
The A05 measures 4,175 mm long, 1,790 mm wide, and 1,560 mm tall, with a 2,605 mm wheelbase.

LiDAR and Advanced Driver Assistance
A standout feature is the optional roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.
Leapmotor claims the A05 is the only hatchback in its segment to offer LiDAR-based navigation-assisted driving (NAP), covering parking-space-to-parking-space scenarios, plus memory parking and highway pilot assist.
Inside, the cabin mirrors the A10 crossover, featuring an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch floating infotainment screen powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8295 processor.
Other amenities include a two-spoke steering wheel, wireless charging, customizable ambient lighting, and a two-tone interior.

Powertrain options include 94 hp and 121 hp motors, paired with 40 kWh or 53 kWh batteries.
CLTC range is rated at 405 km and 510 km respectively, slightly more than the A10 crossover.
Chinese buyers can reserve the A05 with a ¥99 yuan deposit.
Local media estimate a starting price around ¥50,000 yuan ($7,400), undercutting the A10 crossover which ranges from ¥65,800 to ¥86,800 ($9,700–$12,800).
The global B03 model, launching later this summer, will expand Leapmotor's overseas presence via its Stellantis joint venture.

European pricing is expected to start under €24,900 ($28,400), competing with the VW ID. Polo and Renault 5 E-Tech.
