Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has acknowledged that the club cannot fully control Bruno Guimaraes's future amid ongoing transfer speculation linking the Brazilian midfielder with Arsenal.
Speaking after a 4-1 preseason defeat to Bristol City, Howe addressed the uncertainty surrounding the club captain, who is set to return from an extended post-World Cup break on Friday.

"We're not in control of that. And to some degree, I don't think Bruno's in control of that either.
What will be, will be," Howe said. "We can't control the forces that are at play here."
Howe emphasized that the priority is to reintegrate Guimaraes smoothly into training and ensure he continues to perform at his best.
"We've just got to make sure that when Bruno comes back, we look after him and he trains well, which I'm sure he will do.
And he makes a difference as he always has done," he added.
When asked whether he had received assurances from the player about staying at St. James' Park, Howe noted the limits of seeking long-term commitments.

I don't think you can push too hard for those," Howe said. "I've said many times we want players who are committed, and Bruno has always been committed."
Howe praised Guimaraes's dedication, highlighting his outstanding performances in training and matches. "Every time he's worn the shirt, he's played with the fans by his side.
I'd love to see that continue," he stated.
According to ESPN Brasil, Arsenal has submitted an improved £75 million bid, comprising £70 million guaranteed and £5 million in add-ons.
However, Newcastle sources have indicated that no formal club-to-club offer has been received.
Howe acknowledged that the situation could be a distraction but reiterated the club's lack of control. "Any distraction, if it's not healthy, is unhealthy.
