Actor George Clooney and his wife Amal were forced to evacuate their home in Brignoles, southern France, on July 29, 2026, as fierce wildfires swept through the Var department amid severe heat and drought.
Hundreds of residents across the region were evacuated after multiple blazes broke out, threatening surrounding communities and leaving the fate of several properties uncertain.

The couple, who purchased the Domaine du Canadel estate in 2021 and resides there with their young twins Alexander and Ella, sent a letter to Brignoles Mayor Didier Brémond to express their concern and ongoing support.
"Dear Didier, at this stage, we do not know if our beautiful home will survive this terrible ordeal," wrote George and Amal Clooney.
The couple emphasized their commitment to the local community despite the uncertainty surrounding their residence, which they have called home since receiving French citizenship.

"As we evacuate Brignoles, we want to emphasize two things: first, we hope that you and the residents of our town are safe; second, Amal and I are determined to ensure that, whatever happens to our village, we remain fully integrated into this community and contribute to its reconstruction," they wrote.
They concluded their letter by reaffirming their deep bond with the region and its residents. "We love Brignoles and our friends who live there," they added.
The actor previously demonstrated his ties to the community by donating 20,000 euros to local flood victims.
