Trinity Rodman's first-half goal secured a 1-0 victory for the Washington Spirit against the Utah Royals on Wednesday night at America First Field in Sandy, Utah.
The match was interrupted by an 80-minute weather delay due to lightning in the area.

The win keeps the Spirit in first place on the National Women's Soccer League table with 36 points through 17 matches.
It also concluded Washington's midweek regular-season schedule for the year.
Rodman's Eighth Goal of the Season
Play was halted in the 25th minute shortly after Washington forward Paige Metayer delivered a cross that Rodman sent wide.
After the delay, Metayer sent a low-driven cross into the six-yard box in the 28th minute, allowing Rodman to slide the ball into the far post for her eighth goal of the season.
The goal marked Rodman's tenth regular-season game-winner of her career, coming three days after she recorded her tenth career game-winning assist.
Metayer also registered her tenth career goal contribution with the club on the play.

Goalkeeper Sandy MacIver made four saves to preserve the shutout, marking her eighth clean sheet of the season for the Spirit.
The team improved its regular-season record to 11-3-3 despite being outshot 18-6 by Utah.
The Royals controlled 68 percent of possession over the first 15 minutes and generated five shots early in the second half.
However, Utah (9-5-3) failed to convert on 10 corner kick opportunities and was held scoreless for the first time in nine matches.
Roster adjustments in the second half saw Kate Wiesner replace Élisabeth Tsé on defense, while Andi Sullivan and Claudia Martínez entered in the 70th minute.
Madison Haugen made her official NWSL debut in the 87th minute, coming on for Rodman to secure the win.
