The Cincinnati Bengals opened training camp on July 29, 2026, with intensity on full display.
A physical scuffle broke out between wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase and defensive backs DJ Turner II and Jalen Davis during 7-on-7 drills.

Chase was tackled into the defensive bench area by Turner, then removed Turner's helmet and tossed it across the field while shouting.
"You better show some f—— respect," Chase said.
Teammates and coaches quickly separated the players. Team figures downplayed the incident as routine competitive drive.
"We're just competing, that's all it is," Davis said. He added, "I hope it's a fight every day."
Turner echoed that sentiment, calling it a brotherly exchange. "Brothers fight, that's all it is, brothers fight all the time," he said.
Quarterback Joe Burrow addressed the skirmish with humor. "If the intensity's not great on day one, then you're in trouble," he said.
Defensive Line Overhaul
The opening practice also featured the debut of newly acquired Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II, along with free agent additions Jonathan Allen and Boye Mafe.
Center Ted Karras praised the challenge of facing Lawrence. "He's really good.
This is gonna be a very good experience for me," Karras said.

Burrow noted the noticeable difference in the pocket. "He got back there pretty quick a couple of times," Burrow said.
The quarterback added that the defensive front forced quicker decision-making and blind throws.
Lawrence expressed enthusiasm about his arrival. "It meant a lot," he said.
Lawrence emphasized the mutual benefits of competing against Burrow. "Somebody has to challenge the king of the jungle," he said.
Lawrence praised the defensive group's depth and communication. "It's an exciting group.
There's a lot of talent and a lot of knowledge," he said.
Regarding his battles with Karras, Lawrence called him "the most competitive guy I've ever been against."
Second-year defensive end Shemar Stewart suffered an apparent knee hyperextension during team drills and was carted off for evaluation.
