Boston Celtics center Neemias Queta has signed a four-year, $56 million contract extension, securing his long-term future with the franchise.
The deal emphasizes stability over financial extravagance.

Queta, a Lisbon native, discussed his financial habits and the negotiation process in a recent interview with Portuguese outlet A Bola.
When asked if he would spend part of his earnings to hire Hall of Fame center Hakeem Olajuwon for off-season training, Queta dismissed the idea.
"I'm stingy. No, I don't spend $100,000 on training," said Queta.
"Not even with Hakeem Olajuwon."
The center made it clear that financial gain was not the primary motivation behind his decision to commit long-term to Boston.

"The most important thing was knowing that Boston believed in me for another four years," he said.
Entering the offseason as a free agent typically brings administrative and personal challenges. Queta noted that securing a multi-year deal eliminates those seasonal worries.
"I'll be able to continue calling Boston home for that entire time, without having to look over my shoulder, without having to worry about the next season … There's uncertainty when you're a free agent," said Queta.
He added that the extension provides clarity and peace of mind as he prepares for his future on the court.
"It creates certain difficulties in terms of knowing how to manage the year, injuries, and everything else, and I didn't want to be thinking about that.

It was very good for me and I feel flattered to have that confidence from the front office," said Queta.
