Zakaria Ouazane, a 19-year-old winger, is leaving Ajax Amsterdam on a free transfer to join the FC Twente and Heracles Almelo youth academy.

The Moroccan youth international announced his departure on July 31, 2026, ending an 11-year tenure in Amsterdam.

According to De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij, Ouazane dissolved his contract with Ajax to facilitate the move to Enschede.

The attacker, older brother of Ajax prospect Abdellah Ouazane, primarily plays as a left winger but can also operate as a striker.

Last season, Ouazane dealt with frequent injuries but managed 13 appearances for Jong Ajax in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.

He started three matches, scored one goal, and holds a record of four goals in 14 Moroccan youth internationals.

Ouazane used his Instagram account to announce his departure to supporters.

"After 11 wonderful years, the moment has come to say goodbye to the club that has been so much more to me than just a place to play sports," said Ouazane.

He reflected on his early days joining the Amsterdam youth system.

"What began with a nine-year-old boy entering the field full of enthusiasm grew into a period full of valuable experiences, friendships, and beautiful memories that I will cherish forever," stated Ouazane.

The winger acknowledged the emotional weight of his transfer.

"This decision was certainly not easy, because Ajax has always been an important part of my life," explained Ouazane.

Despite his departure, the player expressed deep appreciation for the environment that shaped him.

"I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the years.

Ajax will always have a special place in my heart, and I look back with great gratitude on the time I spent here," noted Ouazane.

He finished his public address with positive words for his former employer.
