Jeep is reportedly working on a new Compass for South America, a model that could combine familiar underpinnings with fresh styling and electrified technology from Chinese partner Leapmotor.
Stellantis introduced the third-generation Jeep Compass in 2025, but it is currently only available in Europe, with the North American launch delayed.

According to CNN Brazil, the new South American Compass could be built at the Goiana Assembly Complex in Pernambuco, Brazil, with a debut expected in 2028.
Platform and Design
Unlike the European version, which uses the newer STLA Medium architecture, the South American Compass is expected to retain the FCA Small Wide platform to avoid retooling costs.
This platform already underpins the second-gen Compass, Commander, Ram Rampage, and the Alfa Romeo Tonale/Dodge Hornet pair.
Despite the older structure, insider sources suggest the exterior design, cabin layout, safety systems, and digital features will closely mirror the European-spec Compass.
That means more angular surfacing, modern LED lighting, and larger screens inside.
Powertrain Options
The bigger news is under the hood, with new electrified options for South American buyers.

One option is said to be an evolution of the bi-fuel 1.3-liter Turbo Flex engine, paired with a 48V mild hybrid system that integrates an electric motor into the dual-clutch transmission.
There is also talk of a range-extender variant using technology from Leapmotor, featuring a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter bi-fuel engine acting as a generator while electric motors drive the wheels.
The report also claims that the Goiana plant is already being upgraded to assemble the Leapmotor B10 and C10 SUVs locally, which would make parts-sharing more feasible.
More details about the South American Compass are expected in the coming months.
North America will eventually get the STLA Medium model, though no launch date has been announced.
Stellantis has moved production from Brampton, Canada, to the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois.
