Maserati is reportedly reconsidering its product strategy, potentially bringing back V8 power and manual transmissions for select limited-run models.
The brand's chief engineer, Davide Danesin, has hinted at this shift in recent interviews with Australian outlets.

After focusing on the twin-turbo Nettuno V6 and previously planning a fully electric future, Maserati now acknowledges that some enthusiasts desire more cylinders.
Danesin told Carsales, “My personal opinion is yes.
I think the V8 could potentially be coming back… I’m sure that if we would be making it, we would be selling it but maybe not in big numbers.”
Technical Feasibility and V8 Options
Danesin confirmed that technical studies have explored fitting a V8 into the current lineup, which includes the facelifted GranTurismo, GranCabrio, and Grecale.
These models use an evolution of Alfa Romeo's Giorgio architecture, while the MC20 supercar shares a carbon fiber monocoque with the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale.
The decision ultimately rests with parent company Stellantis, but Danesin remains optimistic: “It looks like the momentum for V8 is building up.
The decision to make it or not is very much dependent on company strategies. I think that potentially that space is there.”
He explained the appeal of a V8 over the V6: “You don’t feel the need of a V8 because of missing performance.
I think the need of V8 is more like having the proper engine for a certain vehicle – it’s more a perception issue…overall, I think this is coming back.”
