Nissan’s Qashqai e-Power has set a new Guinness World Record by completing a 1,230-mile (1,980 km) journey without charging or refueling.
The drive took place in Colombia from July 14 to 17, starting in Bogota and ending at the Caribbean coast.

The record is for the longest journey by a non-plug-in extended-range electric SUV.
The Qashqai e-Power uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that acts as a generator, powering an electric motor and a 2.1 kWh battery.
Unlike many hybrids, the engine does not drive the wheels directly.
Instead, it generates electricity for the motor, which delivers 188 hp and 243 lb-ft (330 Nm) of torque.
This setup gives the SUV an EV-like driving experience.
Nissan chose Colombia for the record attempt, starting in Bogota at an altitude of 8,660 feet (2,640 meters) and descending to the coast.

The downhill sections likely helped maximize efficiency through regenerative braking.
The carmaker has not released detailed fuel economy figures from the record run.
In a previous test, Carscoops averaged 5.3 l/100 km (44.3 US mpg) over a week of driving.
Richard Candler, Nissan’s corporate executive for family, product & components strategy, praised the achievement.
He said the record demonstrates the capability of e-POWER technology and its role in Nissan’s electrification journey.
This is not the first Guinness World Record involving the Qashqai.

Two years ago, Nissan used the model for the highest car bungee jump, a 213-foot (65-meter) stunt to market the facelifted version.
