Two Mercedes-AMG owners in the United States have filed a lawsuit against the German automaker, claiming that the metal AMG logos on their seats caused second-degree burns.

The class action, filed in California last week, alleges that the raised metal emblems become hot enough to burn occupants' skin, leaving marks shaped like the badge itself.

The Incidents

Gabriel Lahigani leased a 2026 Mercedes-AMG E-Class from a Los Angeles dealer.

On May 31, he leaned back against the AMG badge while wearing a tank top and received second-degree burns.

A board-certified dermatologist later documented first- and second-degree burns, describing the injury as "AMG inscribed."

In July, Karendeep Karina Bath of Chatsworth, California, says she was burned similarly after getting back into her Mercedes-AMG parked in Los Angeles, again in a sleeveless top.

Her shoulder made immediate contact with the logo, causing a burning sensation.

Over the next few days, a mark shaped like the AMG logo darkened on her skin, consistent with a thermal contact burn.

What the Plaintiffs Want

The two plaintiffs are seeking compensation for medical expenses, as well as for pain, suffering, and emotional distress.

They also want Mercedes to pay for the removal of the seat logos for all owners of these badged models.

The lawsuit argues that the raised metal emblem is positioned exactly where it can touch an occupant's upper back, neck, or shoulder, making it a hazard.

While exposed metal in a cabin can get hot in the sun, a scorching emblem bolted to a seat is harder to avoid, so the lawsuit may have merit.
