Ford and Lincoln are expanding the rollout of their new AI Assistant, a smart tool designed to enhance vehicle ownership by replacing the traditional owner's manual.

The AI Assistant is integrated into the Ford and Lincoln mobile apps, providing what the company calls “immediate, personalized intelligence” to approximately 8 million customers.

How It Works

Users can access the AI Assistant by tapping a blue celestial-style icon at the top of the app, which opens a chat interface familiar to anyone who has used AI before.

Owners can ask questions and receive relevant answers based on their specific vehicle.

For instance, a new owner could ask how to use BlueCruise, Ford's hands-free semi-autonomous driving system, and get detailed instructions.

The assistant can also help with setting up features like Pro Trailer Backup Assist on the F-150, or provide specifications such as cargo compartment size to check if a large item will fit.

Additionally, the AI Assistant can access real-time vehicle data, including fuel level, tire pressure, and remaining oil life, allowing owners to get a detailed health report before a long trip.

Ford and Lincoln plan a gradual rollout to “learn, iterate, and quickly scale” the technology, with direct integration into select vehicles by 2027.

In a related move, the automaker is upgrading voice assistance in vehicles equipped with the Ford and Lincoln Digital Experience, offering Google Gemini as an opt-in alternative to the standard Google Assistant.

Gemini enables more natural conversations, allowing users to send texts, adjust climate control, or play music through voice commands.
