Jeep has outlined an ambitious plan to expand its European lineup to six models by 2030, up from just two SUVs currently on sale.
The centerpiece is a new flagship D-SUV that will be built in China using a platform from Chinese automaker Dongfeng.
The move comes after Jeep discontinued the Wrangler in Europe, leaving the recently facelifted Avenger and the new Compass as its sole offerings.
The brand now aims to cover 90% of the SUV market with a broader range.
Flagship from China
The unnamed D-SUV will ride on a multi-energy platform from Dongfeng, likely paired with a plug-in hybrid or range-extender powertrain.
Jeep insists the styling, product formula, and 4x4 experience will be entirely its own.
Fabio Catone, who oversees Jeep, Ram, and Dodge in Enlarged Europe, compared the collaboration to the iPhone, stating that the design aligns with Jeep's identity while leveraging Dongfeng's industrial footprint.
The model is expected to launch in China, Europe, and select other markets, but not North America due to import tariffs.
A potential donor vehicle is the Dongfeng M187, a rugged SUV measuring 5,100 mm (200.7 inches) in length.
Two New Small SUVs
Jeep will also introduce two small SUVs positioned above the Avenger.
One will be a compact B-SUV, wider than the Avenger and resembling a proper SUV rather than a raised hatchback.
The other is likely the next-generation Renegade, offering more technology and practicality.
Both models will ride on Stellantis' STLA One platform with steer-by-wire technology.
Powertrain options are expected to include mild-hybrid and fully electric variants, with all-wheel drive available to maintain off-road capability.
Together, these two SUVs will cover 98% of the B-SUV segment, one of the largest in Europe.
Wrangler's Future and Recon Arrival
Jeep recently withdrew the Wrangler from Europe due to strict emission regulations.
The brand's European boss said they are exploring ways to bring the iconic model back, but it won't happen soon.
In the meantime, Jeep will import the fully electric Recon from North America to Europe in early 2027.
Alongside the Dongfeng-based flagship, the Recon aims to satisfy buyers seeking a larger, capable off-roader.
