Jacob Bethell struck an unbeaten 76 off 46 balls to guide England to a four-wicket victory over India in the second T20 international at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The win gave England a 1-0 lead in the five-match series after the opening match in Durham was abandoned due to rain.

India won the toss and elected to bat, posting 190-7 in their 20 overs. Ishan Kishan top-scored with 49, while Abhishek Sharma added 43.

Sam Curran was the pick of the England bowlers with 3-33.

India handed a historic debut to 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who became the youngest international player for his country, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's record from 1989.

Sooryavanshi smashed two sixes in a brief 10-ball cameo of 14 runs before being stumped off Will Jacks.

England's chase got off to a disastrous start as Arshdeep Singh dismissed Phil Salt and Jos Buttler for ducks within the first five deliveries.

Harry Brook revitalized the innings with a rapid 39 off 15 balls.

Bethell then combined with Tom Banton in a crucial 67-run partnership to steer England home with an over to spare.
