An 86-year-old British man and two Spanish citizens were among 57 people injured during the annual eight-day running of the bulls festival in Pamplona, Spain, which concluded on Tuesday morning.
The elderly tourist from Halesowen in the West Midlands was hospitalized on the final morning after sustaining injuries to his right hand, left elbow, and right eyebrow.
Festival organizers stated that the unnamed British national was evaluated by medical personnel, who determined his injuries were not severe.
Goring Incidents on Final Day
Two Spanish men were also gored on the final day of the festival, known locally as Sanfermines.
An 18-year-old local resident sustained a goring to his left thigh, while a 46-year-old man from Guadalajara suffered a chest injury from a bull horn.
Neither injury was life-threatening, according to festival organizers.
The traditional event features participants running ahead of six bulls along an 848.6-meter course through narrow city streets to the local bullring.
While trampling and minor injuries are common during the runs, the festival has recorded at least 16 fatalities over the past 116 years.
The most recent death occurred in 2009.
