According to industry reports, the updated NX is slated to go on sale in the United States for the 2027 or 2028 model year.
It has remained largely unchanged since its June 2021 introduction.
The larger RX, originally introduced in May 2022, is scheduled to follow a standard mid-cycle timeline with a release expected for the 2027 model year.
Both vehicles will receive minor exterior updates, including restyled bumpers, revised headlamp graphics, and fresh wheel options ranging up to 20 inches for the NX and 21 inches for the RX.
The RX is expected to feature a further evolution of its spindle body front fascia architecture, shifting away from the traditional spindle grille setup.
Interior and Technology Upgrades
Substantial revisions are planned for the interior layouts, featuring slimmer dashboard designs and updated infotainment systems.
Reports indicate Lexus will replace the integrated volume dials on the current screens with dedicated controls, alongside capacitive touch or physical buttons for climate functions.
Powertrain and Hybrid Enhancements
Mechanical upgrades across both models will draw heavily from Toyota's latest hybrid generation components introduced in the 2026 RAV4.
The hybrid NX and RX variants will utilize an integrated eAxle design that combines the power control unit and transaxle to reduce weight and boost efficiency.
Plug-in hybrid variants for both models are expected to feature larger 22.7 kWh battery packs, up from the current 18.1 kWh capacity.
The battery upgrade is anticipated to boost electric-only driving range from under 40 miles to roughly 45 miles, while adding 50 kW DC fast-charging capability that can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
Pricing and Availability
Lexus is expected to officially reveal details for the updated NX later this year, with initial pricing projected around $48,000 for hybrid models and over $60,000 for plug-in variants.
Official information regarding the 2027 RX facelift is anticipated by early 2027, with base hybrid prices expected to range between $56,000 and $69,000.
