Marvel Studios has set the release date for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth solo film starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker.
The movie will arrive in theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The story picks up four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Peter Parker now operates full-time in New York City without the advanced tech upgrades seen in earlier films.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed the timeline placement relative to the next major crossover, Avengers: Doomsday, which opens December 18, 2026.
In an interview with Collider, Feige stated, "It takes place before." When asked if the story leads directly into the crossover, he clarified, "No, it's before."
The narrative follows Parker as he navigates life after a universal spell erased all memory of his identity.
His former girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) have moved on without him.
Tom Holland explained the reasoning behind the multi-year gap between films.
"One of the reasons we took a big break between No Way Home and Brand New Day was to allow the characters to grow up offscreen," he told Den of Geek.
"Audiences who love the original franchise will see a different version of these characters from the outset."
New cast members join the franchise, including Stranger Things actor Sadie Sink.
Returning MCU figures include Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and Zabryna Guevara as Sheila Rivera.
Holland described the sequel as a major milestone for Peter Parker's personal development. "I think the movie feels, tonally, like a fresh start.
What Peter Parker is going through post Spider-Man: No Way Home is really profound and unique to the superhero genre," he said.
He expanded on the thematic elements: "It's a movie about when young people really find their identity and become adults.
Having been through that as a person, it really gave me a great insight into how to bring Peter Parker to life with this new chapter."
Regarding the title's meaning, Holland revealed in the Disney+ documentary Generations: The Evolution of Spider-Man that "It isn't the beginning.
It's the last frame of this movie."
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the project shifts toward street-level action with hints of organic webbing and physical transformations for Parker.
Holland praised Cretton's work after viewing the final cut.
"To be perfectly honest with you, it is above and beyond what I thought it was going to be," he told Collider.
Holland added, "I think that he has found a way to grow this franchise and to make the movie feel bigger, and to make the action feel more dangerous, and to make the stakes feel higher without sacrificing the emotion and the heart of what makes these characters tick."
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters July 31, 2026, positioning Tom Holland's Peter Parker ahead of Avengers: Doomsday in Phase Six of the MCU.
