ESPN broadcaster Joe Buck stepped in as a guest co-host on ABC's Good Morning America on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, sitting alongside regular anchors Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos in place of absent co-host Michael Strahan.
The network had previously promoted Buck's guest appearance during its Monday broadcasts, signaling a planned temporary absence for Strahan.
ABC did not announce any formal changes to Strahan's regular role on the morning news program.
Buck is best known as the lead play-by-play announcer for ESPN's Monday Night Football, a position he assumed in 2022 alongside broadcasting partner Troy Aikman after nearly three decades at Fox Sports calling NFL games and the World Series.
Outside of sports broadcasting, Buck has hosted Jeopardy! and the competition series Domino Masters.
Off the air, Buck is married to ESPN features reporter and former Denver Broncos cheerleader Michelle Beisner-Buck, whom he wed in 2014.
Beisner-Buck spent six seasons cheering for the Broncos, including appearances at the 1998 Super Bowl and 1999 Pro Bowl, before transitioning into sports journalism with NFL Network and ESPN.
The couple shares six-year-old twin sons, Wyatt Joseph and Blake Andrew, born on April 26, 2018, following three rounds of in vitro fertilization.
"It took us a long time to get to this point," wrote Michelle Beisner-Buck. "There is not much that's more financially, emotionally, physically taxing than in vitro fertilization.
It is a very grueling, gnarly process.
But after three total rounds, Joe and I found out we were going to have two sweet little miraculous babies."
Beisner-Buck has frequently expressed gratitude for their quiet moments as a family of four.
"Being able to be with Joe, just the four of us hanging out together, that to me is a little slice of heaven that I don't take for granted," she wrote.
Reflecting on their marriage, Beisner-Buck marked their ten-year milestone with a public message of support.
"It feels like @boejuck and I have been together for lifetimes," she wrote. "I love you Joe.

In addition to his twin sons, Buck has two older daughters, Natalie and Trudy, from his previous marriage to Ann Archambault Buck, which ended in divorce in 2011.
Natalie Buck has pursued an acting career, including appearances on the CBS drama series Blue Bloods.
Beisner-Buck praised her husband's dedication to raising all four of his children.
"To watch the kind of father you are to Natalie, Trudy, Wyatt and Blake has been the greatest gift," she wrote.
"Thank you for laughing, loving, protecting and parenting the right way, every day."
Before their marriage, Beisner-Buck recalled her initial reaction when NFL Network personality Rich Eisen tried to set them up in 2012.
"Please don't say it's Joe Buck," she joked.
She explained that her perception changed completely once they met in person, calling him the opposite of arrogant.
Recalling her cheerleading career, she credited her six seasons with the Denver Broncos for shaping her character.
"It was the greatest six plus years of my life," she said. "It made me accountable.
It made me respectful. It's humbled me.
It made me a better woman, a better person."
