Kate Garraway caused on-air laughter when she was caught sneaking back onto the Good Morning Britain set after a bathroom break during Thursday's broadcast, July 30, 2026.
The incident happened when the ITV breakfast show returned from a commercial break.
Co-host Adil Ray sat alone on the sofa opposite guests Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu, who were discussing their upcoming appearance on Channel 4's Celebrity Hunted.
Garraway quietly tried to return to her seat mid-interview after taking too long in the restroom.
However, Welsh dancer Dowden interrupted her sentence to greet the presenter as she crept back into the camera frame.
Garraway immediately apologized for her late arrival while laughing about the situation.
"I took a little bit too long in the shower and the loo," said Garraway.
Ray made a lighthearted joke about recent hot weather headlines before resuming the interview.
"She hasn't heard about the drought and the short showers. It's alright, we're here now," said Ray.
Garraway struggled to keep a straight face while apologizing to viewers.
"So sorry," she said.
The guests then shared details about their time on Celebrity Hunted, explaining they hid off the grid for three weeks in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.
Dowden noted that being on the run was extremely intense and harder than competing on Strictly Come Dancing, with bathroom breaks offering their only temporary separation.
"It's really hard, and the only break you get from one another is when you go to the bathroom.
For us, we kept saying, 'this is harder than Strictly,' it's so intense!" said Dowden.
Gu supported her statement, adding that the experience tested their endurance beyond their regular dance routines.
Dowden added that their planned gameplan failed because Gu accidentally left details on his phone, allowing the show's hunters to trace them.
"100 percent harder than dancing," said Gu.
The live blunder comes shortly after another incident on the ITV breakfast program.
On Friday, July 24, Garraway apologized to City of Edinburgh Council leader Jane Meagher after a passerby made an offensive gesture in the background during a live remote interview.
"Just to say, Jane, you won't be aware because you were talking so elegantly to us with the gorgeous vision of Edinburgh behind.
But somebody came past doing a rather rude gesture.
So, if you're watching at home and you saw, that is no reflection on Jane or indeed Edinburgh," said Garraway.
