Leicester City have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Liam Cullen from Swansea City on a three-year contract, the club confirmed on July 31, 2026.
The 27-year-old Wales international joins for an undisclosed fee, becoming Leicester's fourth summer addition.
Cullen reunites with new Leicester boss Russell Martin, who coached him during a two-year spell at Swansea.
He is joined at King Power Stadium by Conor Chaplin, Christian McFarlane, and Alex McCarthy as the club's new arrivals.
Long Swansea Career
Cullen spent 19 years with Swansea, having joined their academy at age eight.
He made 207 senior appearances and scored 37 goals after his debut in August 2018 against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.
He notably scored against rivals Cardiff City in April 2023, April 2024, and August 2024.
In the previous season, Cullen featured in 40 Championship matches, scoring five goals.
His best scoring season came in 2024–25, when he netted 12 times.
Capable of playing as a striker or advanced midfielder, Cullen leaves a significant gap in the Swansea dressing room.
Former Swansea assistant coach Vitor Matos praised Cullen's work ethic earlier in the year.
"He has this mentality, which I love, that if he's to play five minutes, he will play that five minutes trying to make an impact and trying to make that five minutes the best of his life," said Matos in February.
Speaking on Leicester's official website, Cullen expressed enthusiasm for the team's tactics under Martin.
"I am buzzing to be here and I can't wait to get started," said Cullen.
He noted that the team's strategic direction aligned with his personal strengths.
"When this opportunity came about - and with the size of the club and the project they're getting started with now - I thought it was the perfect fit for me," said Cullen.
The midfielder added that the squad's target approach fits his preferred playing style.
"The way we want to play football suits me really well. Keeping the football, playing in the opposition half, creating chances and scoring lots of goals," said Cullen.
Following Cullen's departure, Swansea will rely on players such as Leo Walta, Melker Widell, Moussa Yeo, and Elijah Just to compete for positions behind the main centre-forward.
