The redesigned Atlas Cross Sport has finally arrived, keeping the familiar turbocharged engine but introducing a completely revamped interior with a focus on screens and modern amenities.
Volkswagen unveiled the 2027 Atlas Cross Sport, a sleeker sibling to the recently redesigned Atlas.
It shares the same hardware but features a sloping roofline that removes the third row for a more stylish profile.
Exterior Updates
Visually, the new Cross Sport isn't a radical departure from its predecessor, but it looks more modern with larger air intakes, blacked-out grilles, and stacked LED headlights.
An illuminated VW badge is standard on all but the base trim.
The Cross Sport sits 2.1 inches lower and is 5.4 inches shorter than the standard Atlas.
At the rear, there are more striking LED taillights, and new 18-, 20-, and 21-inch wheel designs are available.
Three new colors join the palette: Blackberry Metallic, Dark Sage Metallic, and Sandstone.
Interior Revolution
The interior is a major departure from the old model. A column-mounted shifter replaces the console shifter, and a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster is standard.
The base model gets a free-standing 12.9-inch infotainment display, while other trims feature a larger 15-inch screen.
Two Qi2 wireless charging pads are also included.
Comfort is enhanced with a new 12-way adjustable driver's seat featuring 4-way lumbar support.
The base audio system has nine speakers, while the flagship model gets a 14-speaker Harman Kardon setup.
Standard features across all models include rear sunshades, a power liftgate, an auto-dimming driver's side mirror, and front and rear Park Distance Control.
The 2027 model also includes premium connected services through the myVW+ system, with navigation, real-time traffic, a generative AI voice control system, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
The infotainment screen can even play games.
Powertrain and Availability
All 2027 Atlas Cross Sport models are powered by the latest 2.0-liter turbocharged EA888 four-cylinder engine, producing 282 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque.
It pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive available.
Volkswagen has not yet detailed trim levels or pricing, but it is expected to start near $40,000 when it goes on sale in the US early next year.
