Jorge Kahwagi Macari, a former Mexican federal deputy and undefeated cruiserweight boxing champion, has died at the age of 58 in Mexico City.
Officials confirmed he passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, after suffering a stroke.
Television host Gustavo Adolfo Infante announced the death during a live broadcast on Imagen Televisión's Sale el Sol program.
Specific hospital details were not provided.
"Unfortunately, Jorge Kahwagi has just passed away at 58 years of age from a stroke here in Mexico City.
Rest in peace, Jorge Kahwagi," Infante said.
Tributes from Political and Public Figures
Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) Senator Manuel Velasco expressed his condolences publicly online following the announcement.
Velasco honored their shared time serving in the LIX Legislature of the Chamber of Deputies.
"I deeply regret the death of my friend Jorge Kahwagi Macari, with whom we coincided as federal deputies in the LIX Legislature," Velasco said.
Prominent public figures and business leaders also offered tributes to the late politician's family shortly after the news broke.

Kahwagi maintained a multifaceted career, earning a degree in Business Administration from Universidad Iberoamericana and a law degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
In the private sector, he worked as a corporate director and shareholder for Grupo Empresarial Periodístico.
Entering professional boxing in 2001, Kahwagi captured national and Latin American cruiserweight titles by 2003.
He compiled an undefeated 12-0 record with all wins coming by knockout, though his career was interrupted in 2005 due to a bacterial infection following a victory over Roberto Coelho.
Kahwagi made a brief return to the ring in July 2015 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu, Philippines, against José Ramón Olivas.
The exhibition match ended in a technical knockout just 40 seconds into the first round after Kahwagi landed a left hook, drawing widespread criticism and boos from the audience over the legitimacy of the contest.
Parallel to his athletic pursuits, Kahwagi served as a PVEM federal deputy from 2003 to 2004, leading the party's parliamentary group.
He later joined the Nueva Alianza Party, serving as General Secretary and President before returning to San Lázaro as a federal deputy from 2009 to 2012, where he joined the Political Coordination Board (JUCOPO).
