Appelhans explained that the characters remain central to the project’s direction. “These characters are like family to us,” he said. “We’re excited to write their next chapter, challenge them, and watch them evolve while continuing to push the boundaries of how music, animation, and story can come together.”

Cast Likely to Return

While Netflix has not officially confirmed the full voice cast, several actors from the original film are widely expected to reprise their roles.

These include Arden Cho, Ejae, May Hong, Audrey Nuna, Ji-young Yoo, and Rei Ami, who provided the voices and singing performances for the girl group HUNTR/X. Ken Jeong is also expected to return as the group’s manager, Bobby.

Whether characters connected to the Saja Boys or the demon king Gwi-Wa—voiced by Lee Byung-hun—will appear in the sequel remains unclear.

Release Timeline Remains Uncertain

Despite confirmation that the sequel is moving forward, Netflix has not announced a release date.

Animated productions typically require several years to complete, meaning the next installment may not arrive until the end of the decade.

Until then, fans continue to revisit the film’s soundtrack and performances while waiting for the next chapter of the franchise.
