This tactical move aimed to capitalize on Robinson's documented free-throw inconsistencies in high-pressure situations.

Exploiting Weaknesses on the Line

According to sports. yahoo.

com, the Cavaliers fouled Robinson with approximately three minutes remaining in the third quarter. This occurred after accumulating enough team fouls to enter the bonus period.

NBA regulations mandate such fouls outside the final two minutes of a quarter to avoid granting the opposing team immediate free throws.

Robinson, who shot 2-for-8 from the free-throw line during the game, has a career 50.8% regular-season rate but only 38.1% in the postseason.

His struggles were evident as he missed 16 of 24 attempts through Game 1.

Coach's Trust Amid Tactical Shift

Knicks head coach Mike Brown defended his decision to keep Robinson on the court despite the fouling. "I wanted to give him a chance," Brown stated.

The center recorded four points, six rebounds, and two steals in 14 minutes but saw reduced playing time in the fourth quarter as New York adopted a smaller lineup.

The strategy proved effective as New York mounted a 22-point fourth-quarter comeback to secure an 115-104 overtime win.

Brown reiterated his confidence in Robinson, stating, "We're gonna continue to give him a chance."

Robinson's personal focus extended beyond the court.

He announced via social media that he was changing his phone number and deleting Facebook to maintain postseason concentration.

His final post read, "Last post before I delete this app... my focus have to go to another level."

Celebrity attendance added to the game's atmosphere.

Figures like Spike Lee, Timothée Chalamet, and Anne Hathaway were present, with Hathaway expressing support through social media.
