A parking lot incident in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, took a dramatic turn when two bystanders attempted to rescue a driver trapped in a Toyota Sequoia that was dangling over a retaining wall.

The first-generation Sequoia had ended up with its front axle hanging over the edge, its frame balanced on the concrete ledge like a see-saw.

Video footage shows one man pushing down on the rear wheel while another worked the rear hitch to rock the chassis.

Their efforts shifted the vehicle's center of mass, breaking static friction and sending the SUV tipping over the drop.

The Sequoia plunged nose-first into a concrete drainage channel before tumbling onto its roof, with the driver still inside.
