Houston Astros outfielder Joey Loperfido paused his minor-league rehab assignment on Monday after fouling a ball off his foot during a game with Double-A Corpus Christi.

Manager Joe Espada confirmed the setback, which occurred in Loperfido's first rehab appearance. He went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts and a hit-by-pitch.

The foot injury is not considered serious.

The team expects him to resume playing on Wednesday as he continues recovering from a right quadriceps strain that sidelined him in mid-April.

Before the hamstring injury, Loperfido played 20 games for Houston, posting a . 276/.

He began light baseball activities on May 5 after being placed on the 10-day injured list on April 17.

Other rehabbing Astros also played in Sunday's game for Corpus Christi, including pitcher Hunter Brown (shoulder strain) and closer Josh Hader (biceps tendinitis).

Outfielder Taylor Trammell is working back from a groin strain.

Espada said Trammell "should be in a position to join us at some point next week."

Loperfido and Trammell are projected to rejoin the Major League lineup next week, depending on rehab progress.
