Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman has revealed he is reconsidering his retirement timeline following the birth of his daughter, London, in April 2026.
The 36-year-old previously planned to play until age 40 to complete a 20-year MLB career, but the challenges of traveling away from his family have shifted his focus toward an earlier exit.

Freeman is under contract with the Dodgers through the 2027 season, making a departure after that campaign a distinct possibility if family obligations outweigh baseball aspirations.
A Change in Perspective
In an interview with Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Freeman admitted that his daughter's arrival has altered his view on career milestones.
"But ever since baby girl came into this world about a month ago, my perspective has changed a little bit on individual stats and how long I would want to play," Freeman said.
The nine-time All-Star, who has three older sons, noted that London's birth during the season is a first for him, making the separation harder.
"I don't like seeing my daughter grow up on a FaceTime call," he said.

"I'm missing things for something she'll never know," he said. "She's not going to know I missed these things either.
But it weighs on me and my heart."
He sought advice from his grandfather, Ed, who reminded him that his post-baseball life will be long.
"You're going to be the best dad, the best husband, for the next 50 years. You only have a few years of this left," his grandfather told him.
Freeman acknowledged that the perspective helped him appreciate his remaining time on the field.
Through 52 games this season, Freeman is batting . 267 with six home runs and 25 RBIs.
