Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate will depart the club as a free agent when his contract expires on June 30, following a breakdown in negotiations over a new deal.
According to reports from the New York Times and the Independent, the Merseyside club could not bridge the gap between the center-back's salary demands and their financial structure.

The France international had been in contract discussions with Liverpool since November 2023. An offer with a significant salary increase was made, but no agreement was reached.
Just last month, Konate expressed optimism about his future at Anfield.
He stated that negotiations were progressing well and reflected his long-term desire to remain with the Premier League side.
"Close," said Konate regarding the deal. He further indicated there was a "big chance" he would stay for the upcoming campaign.

The center-back noted that extending his stay was what he had "always wanted."
Despite his departure, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot previously highlighted concerns about Konate's performances during the 2025-26 season.
Slot remarked that Konate "has been a bit too much on the crime scene."
Konate leaves Liverpool having made 183 appearances over seven years following his £35 million move from RB Leipzig.
