Scottish Premiership side Rangers have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Luca Stephenson, who has announced his intention to leave Anfield permanently this summer.

The 22-year-old impressed during a season-long loan at Dundee United, making 60 appearances and serving as captain.

Rangers are actively monitoring Stephenson as they seek midfield reinforcements, with Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande potentially departing in the summer.

The Ibrox club has also tracked other options including Dan Neil, Elliot Watt, and Cammy Devlin.

Stephenson Prioritizes Permanent Home

Stephenson revealed that his current contract with Liverpool runs only until next year, which could allow Rangers to secure his signature for a bargain fee.

“I’ve only got a year left on my contract at Liverpool.

So, I think the biggest priority for me is that, in my next step, I find a permanent home,” Stephenson told The Courier.

The Sunderland-born player spent three years developing through various loan spells but now wants long-term stability.

“I’ve done three years on loan and have developed a lot. So, I think the next thing needs to be different,” he said.

Stephenson acknowledged that his future remains open, whether staying in England or returning to Scotland.

“That could still be at Liverpool, depending on what they are thinking.

It could be back up in Scotland or in England – I honestly don’t know the answer to that question.

But I am keen to get something permanent,” Stephenson added.

Rangers are deliberately prioritizing leaders this summer, and Stephenson fits the profile despite not being Scottish.
