New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed he will also attend Monday's game, noting he purchased his own tickets and will sit in the standard upper levels of the arena.

The mayor welcomed all fans celebrating the basketball team's potential historic milestone.

"I think we look forward to welcoming any New Yorker who is excited for the Knicks to have that chance to win that championship," Mamdani said.

In response to the complaints, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver defended the implementation of the massive security apparatus for the event.

"There should be extra security for the president of the United States to be at a game," Silver said.
