Brazil secured first place in Group C after recording 3-0 victories against Haiti and Scotland, along with a 1-1 draw against Morocco.

The team, managed by Carlo Ancelotti, conceded an early goal to Morocco but then scored seven consecutive goals and kept clean sheets in the remaining group matches.

This performance marks Brazil's longest consecutive winning streak at a World Cup since their last title in 2002.

Forward Neymar returned to the pitch after a 981-day injury absence, becoming the fourth Brazilian player to feature in four World Cups.

Brazil has topped its group in every World Cup since 1982, though the team has faced elimination in four of its last six knockout matches.

However, Brazil has not been eliminated in the opening knockout match since losing to Argentina in 1990.
